Dosage & Administration

In both cases treatment may continue indefinitely. Patients who buy baclofen tablets should be aware of abruptly ending treatment; doing so can cause withdrawal effects. This generally applies to patients taking baclofen long-term (two months or more) but effects can occur at low or high doses.

Abrupt discontinuation can cause:

• Auditory, visual, or tactile hallucinations
• Seizures
• Delusions
• Behavioral disturbances
• Memory impairment
• Extreme muscle rigidity

These symptoms can be avoided by gradually tapering down dosage when it's time to end treatment. A doctor can help come up with a discontinuation plan, a longer-term reversal of the start of treatment. Not everyone experiences withdrawal symptoms, and if abrupt withdrawal is attempted but symptoms appear, recommencing treatment with baclofen should stop them.
